Hi everyone -we left the coast on Monday 14th June and travelled 78 miles north to the mediaeval city of Carcassonne. As you can see our caravan pitch was the size of a football field. The walled city of Carcassonne has been rebuilt several times but the original building is dated around 1226. The mediaeval walled town lies on the right bank of the river Aude and is featured on UNESCO's world heritage list. It has 52 towers and 2 rings of town walls making a total of 3km of battlements. It is still home today to it's population of approx. 120 and has a large number of shops and craftware and was only 15mins walk from our caravan site.
We left after 3 days to travel another 160 miles north around Toulouse to arrive where we are today which is just outside the town of Sarlat in the Dordogne. We are stopping here for 2 weeks.
